North Pointe 's on campus
TV station captures memories
preptv is an extra-curricular program designed to promote campus
life and communicate student achievement in academics, athletics
and the arts. "At first, our slogan 'onair, online onyou' sounded kind of
cheesy," said Principal Richard Gow. "But we stayed with it because it
crystallized what
preptv is. We broadcast shows throughout the
campus. We post photos and videos online. And, all of it is about you,
the students of North Pointe Prep.
" The over 100,000 photos and
1
200 videos posted on preptv.org highlight the school's commitment
to use
preptv to promote students. "We started this whole thing with
my Sony Digital8 Camcorder, Canon Rebel 35mm camera and an
$11.95 a month website that
I actually started for the computer
classes," continued Principal Gow. "The website's popularity grew
quickly and eventually the school started paying for it. My equipment
was replaced with a state of the art studio, 12 Digital Mini-DV
Camcorders,
5 XDCAM Camcorders, and 8 Digital EOS Cameras. It's
been a fun ride!"
