| National Honor Society |
The National Honor Society at the Prep is focused on
being involved in and assisting the community.
Adopt-A-Street
NHS is part of the Adopt-A-Street program and has
adopted the mile in front of the school (43rd Ave from
Peoria to Dunlap). As a part of this program, the NHS
group goes out once a month and picks up trash along the
roadside and reports graffiti to the city.
Habitat for Humanity
NHS members have also helped build a house for Habitat
for Humanity. Tasks have included painting, hanging dry
wall and installing insulation.
Prep Cafe
NHS also assists the Prep Cafe with food inventory and
restocking each day.
Other Projects
Recently a group of National Honor Society students
volunteered at the Thanksgiving Day Marathon in Peoria
by working water stations and handing out water to
runners along the route.
Membership in the National Honor Society is based upon a
selection process examining scholarship (GPA), service,
leadership, and character (plus citizenship for NJHS).
Student applications must be submitted to the school office
by Monday, April 5th.
