Pointe students earned a total of 90 college credit hours, which amounts to approximately $50,000 worth of credit at a State University.
Additionally, the State of Arizona awards the AIMS scholarship to students who excel in two of the three areas (reading, writing, or math) and also earn at least a 3 on two different AP
exams. Several North Pointe students qualified for the scholarship this year via that route, adding on to the financial benefits of passing the AP exams. Two Prep students (class of
2011 graduate Annika Vannan and class of 2012 member Bret Wainwright) also achieved the distinction of being named AP scholars, meaning they have passed at least three
separate AP exams.
“AP courses are an excellent way for students to prepare for college not only academically, but also financially,” explained Mr. Leonardi. “North Pointe is expanding our AP program this
year by adding three new AP classes, and we are excited to provide not only seniors, but also sophomores and juniors a chance to earn college credit prior to their high school
graduation.”

Prep students exceed
National Average in AP tests
The College Board released the results of the 2011 Advanced
Placement (AP) Tests and North Pointe students achieved the
highest level of success in the school's history and far exceeded
national averages.
Leading the way again this year were Mr. Leonardi's AP Physics
students. “I am extremely pleased with the results. Not only did we
have more students take the exam than in the past two years
combined, but every single student who maintained a B or above in
my class over the entire year achieved a 3 or higher, earning college
credit,” said Mr. Leonardi. “The overall percentage of students
passing the exam again exceeded the national average by far.”
In addition to the AP Physics exam, Prep students also passed the
AP English Literature, AP English Language, AP Spanish, and AP
Calculus exams. When all of the numbers are added up, North
