Regionals at Valley Christian
Running the 300im hurdles, Spencer Ulman ran a school record and PR (44.11).  Then he did not skip a beat in the 110m hurdles while running 16.48.  
Spencer finished 3rd overall in the region in both events.  Justin Knight place 2nd in the 100m dash (11.31) and 3rd place in the 200m dash (23.48).  
Surprising the entire 1600m field was Kevin Pino. Peaking at the right time, running a personal record (5:04) and finishing in 4th place to advance to state.  
All of the Prep's relay teams ran fast. The 4x100 (J. Effron, J. Knight, M. Arellano, R. Alvarado) finished in school record time (46.45) and fourth place overall.  
The 4x400 (M. Arellano, B. Harris, A. Casselman, G. Vaiente) established another school record (3:47.2). The 4x800 (K. Pino, B. Harris, G. Vaiente, A.
Casselman) has a return trip to the State Championship and are looking forward to better a 6th place finish.

Meet 6 at Valley Christian Invitational
Setting the tone for the sunny day was Spencer Ulman.  He ran very well during the preliminary rounds for the 110 meter hurdles, which advanced him into
the finals.  He was excited to advance and felt he had something to prove, since he was running in lane eight.  Spencer did just that by smashing his own
school record and running the super fast time of 16.68, also finishing 6th place overall.  Justin Knight also ran like a man on a mission in the 200m dash.  He
lowered his school record to 23.25, and advanced to the finals to finish 6th place overall.  Dakota Kallas destroyed the school record in the Discus throw
(103’) and finished in the top 15.  Other standout performances: Bryce Harris in the 400m (56.76), Kevin Pino (2:15) and Tyler Doty (2:25) in the 800m.  On
the girls side Kaitlin Ulman ran great in the 300im hurdles lowering her school record to 55.26 and finishing in the top 15.  Kristi Hayes ran 800m and broke
her school record to 2:43, while finishing in 8th place overall.  Other standout performances:  Fernanda Bueno in the 800m (3:08), Jordan Dean (29.64) and
Ariel Avilez (29.89) in the 200m dash.

Meet 5 at Fountain Hills Invitational
Ladies: Kaitlin Ulman continues her streak of running great times.  In the 100m hurdles she ran a 19.88 and in the 300m hurdles she lowered her school
record with a 55.41, finishing 4th overall.  Jordan Dean ran well in the 100 and 200; lowering the school record to 29.13 (200m).  Ariel Avilez, has been our
most consistent runner and ran good times in the 100 and 200.  Our 4x100m relay team (Ariel Avilez, Jordan Dean, Kaitlin Ulman, Taylor Little), is a just 3
tenths of a second from qualifying for state. The 4x400m relay team (Ariel Avilez, Jordan Dean, Taylor Little, Kristi Hayes) continues to run faster each time
out and lowered the school record to 4:40.77.
Men:  Justin Knight won the 200m dash and qualified for State with a run of 23.43.  Spencer Ulman qualified for state in the 110m/300im hurdles (17.96/44.
74). The 4x100m relay team qualified for State (Sean O’Donoghue, Justin Knight, Matthew Arellano, and Russell Alvarado) with a 2nd place finish and a time
of 46.68.  The 4x800m relay team qualified for State (Gianni Vaiente, Anthony Casselman, Kevin Pino, and Bryce Harris) with a time of 8:56.57. “We are
extremely proud of our recent accomplishments; however, we understand the mission is not complete until May 15th.” said Coach Wilson.

Meet 4 at Salt River at High School
"For the track and field team, mid-season form was very good to us," said Coach Wilson. Up against some good competition and wind gusts up to 35 mph an
hour the team steped up to the challenge and exceeds expectations.  
Jordan Dean and Justin Knight represented the Prep well in the 100m dash.
Running against the wind, Dean lowered her school record to 13.43 (previously 13.66).  Knight followed her lead and was the first out of the block. He blazed
down the straight away and ran a new school record 11.13 (previously 11.19).  
Kristi Hayes lowered her school record to 2:51 in the 800m run (previously 2:
55).  Prior to the meer, subtle changes were made to each of the 4x100 meter relay teams. The girls team now has
Ariel Avilez leading off and then

Kaitlin Ulman, Taylor Little, Jordan Dean.  A great sprint from each young lady lead to a new school record of 55.10 (previously 55.67).  The
guys 4x100m relay,
Dakota Martin, Knight, Matthew Arellano, and Russell Alvarado lowered the school record to 47.35 (previously 47.64).  Kaitlin
Ulman
continues to break a school record each time she runs the 300im hurdles. Her news school record 56.12 (previously 58.86).  Other exceptional
performances:

Meet 3 at Valley Christian
Ladies: The Prep's 4x100m relay (Corinne Peterson, Kaitlin Ulman, Taylor Little, Jordan Dean) qualified for State and set a school record with 55.17.
Taylor Little qualified for State and broke a school record in the Long Jump with 14’11.5”. Taylor also placed 4th in the 400m dash lowering the school
record to 70.18.
Kaitlin Ulman broke school records with a time of 19.76 in the 100m hurdles and 56.31 in the 300im hurdles. Kristi Hayes ran ten seconds
faster in the 1600m run to lower the school record to 6:25 and finish in 5th place. Kristi finished 4th place in the 3200 and set a school record at 15:30.66.
The Prep's 4x400 relay (
Taylor Little, Jordan Dean, Ariel Avilez, Kaitlin Ulman) shaved more than 9 seconds off the previous school record and finished
4th with a time of 4:45.80.
Sharon Wolfley, in the 800m run (3:36), and Corinne Peterson in the 100m dash (14.66) also had standout finishes.  
Men:
Justin Knight qualified for State placing first in the 100m dash with a time of 11.52 and placed second and broke a school record in the 200m dash
with 24.28 The Prep's 4x800m relay (
Bryce Harris, Gianni Vaiente, Austin Mosher, Anthony Casselman) finished 2nd place with 9:07.1Spencer Ulman
ran almost a flawless 110m hurdles and placed 4th with a time of 17.56 and placed 5th in the 300im hurdles with a new school record of 45.36 The Prep's

Bryce Harris, Justin Knight, Jeremy Smith, Russell Alvarado) lowered the school record to 47.64. Other standout performances: Tyler
Doty
400 (62.18), 800 (2:35), Kevin Pino 800 (2:20), 1600 (5:15), Eli Marmol 400 (62.73), Gianni Vaiente 800 (2:16), Anthony Casselman 800 (2:19),
Shane Kelly 300im hurdles (57.90), Tevin Geiger 300im hurdles (64:13).

Meet 2 at Fountain Hills
Kristi Hayes crushed her previous record (6:36) and kicked it into gear with 80 meters to go and finished 2nd with a new school record of 6:26. Kaitlin
Ulman
finished with two fifth place finishes running an outstanding time in the 100 meter hurdles (20.86) and broke a school record run in the 300im hurdles
(58.86).
Taylor Little finished 2nd (13’11.5”) and Corinne Peterson 3rd (13’11”) as both broke school records in the long jump with both jumping 13’11.5”.
Dakota Kallas threw 34’1” breaking the previous record of 31'8".  Justin Knight also broke a school record in the long jump with a leap of 18’7”.

Meet 1 at Valley Christian
Senior Justin Knight placed first in the 100m dash at Valley Christian's season opening track meet and the Prep's Track & Field team broke 16 school
records. “The future is bright for Prep Track & Field," said Coach Kane Wilson. "We are committed to tapping into athletic potential and getting athletes out of
their comfort zone! That's our expectation for this year - we just didn't expect it right out of the gates. About 15 new athletes have joined the program this year
and collectively we have picked up where we left off from last year."  Knight finished 1st, in the 100m dash, 2nd in the High Jump and helped the 4x100 meter
finish 2nd. Senior
Kristi Hayes broke two school records as she finished first in the 800m run with 2:55 and 2nd in the 1600m run with 6:36.2. Senior Gianni
Vaiente
also took home a first place finish winning the 800m run with a time of 2:16. The Prep's 4x400m Relay Team of Vaiente, Bryce Harris, Matthew
Arellano
and Damian Finger took first with 3:53.6. Finger also placed 2nd (25.2) in the 200m dash and 4th in the 400m dash. Other athletes with impressive
performances were:
Nathan Rice finished 4th and Dakota Kallas 5th in the discuss throw. Spencer Ulman cut a second and a half off his previous 110
meter hurdles school record. He lowered his mark to 17.10 seconds (previous mark 18.69).  
Corinne Peterson did damage in the long jump with the jump of
13’0” (school record) and led off the 4x100 meter relay team.
Jordan Dean smashed the 100m dash record and ran a 13.66. The 200m dash record was
also lowered to 29.19.  Dean also contributed to establishing two new school records in the 4x100 and the 4x400.  
Jeremy Smith placed 4th (26.00) in the
200m dash. The boys team finished 2nd with 62 points and the girls team finished 3rd with 37 points.
