Varsity Softball 2009-2010 Game Summaries
Game 1 vs Tonopah at Rose Mofford Park
The Lady Falcons had a rough first game against a good Tonopah team but they're showing great promise for a strong season. Led on defense by
veteran Seniors, Nicole McGinnis and Deana Baum, the Lady Falcons used both hustle and teamwork to make some outstanding plays and held their own for
most of the game. Freshmen Colline Gallagher and Emily Parker had excellent games at bat and Sophomore Amber Baggiore had a great
game on the bases - stealing second once and scoring two runs for the team.

Game 2 at Arizona Lutheran
The Lady Falcons did not start off well against Arizona Lutheran Academy, losing their starting pitcher after the first inning and getting behind early. They
made a valiant effort in the last inning, but came up short. Freshman shortstop Colline Gallagher led the team in batting with a single, a triple, and one walk
(scoring 3 times herself and driving in a 4th) . Senior catcher Nicole McGinnis had some impressive base running, toughing it out through a sore knee to steal
three bases, including home.

Game 3 vs Camp Verde at Rose Mofford
The Lady Falcons had a great defensive showing in the first three innings against the Camp Verde Cowboys, holding them to only one run thanks, in large
part, to some fantastic fielding by third baseman, Deana Baum. Deana also had a big hit for a double, but the Falcons overall could not get their offense
together, and some big missed defensive plays in the fourth and fifth innings led to their loss.

Game 4 at Bourgade
The Lady Falcons visited Bourgade Catholic and, although they weren’t able to score in the 0–11 game, showed great improvement in their defense for the
first 5 innings. Freshman Rachael Tijajho made a great catch in left field; Deana Baume, Colline Gallagher, Emily Parker, and Brittini Jajdelski all made
excellent plays in their infield positions, and the whole team was focused and played together well. The offense was not as impressive against a strong
Bourgade pitcher, but Katrina McGinnis and a couple of others were able to pull of some solid hits.

Game 5 at Estrella Foothills
Nothing seemed to fall into place for the Lady Falcons as they traveled to play Estrella Foothills. They got down 9 to nothing in the first inning and were never
able to recover, though they fought back and were able to keep Estrella from scoring in the second inning. The game ended 16 – 0.

Game 6 vs South Pointe at Rose Mofford
In an extremely frustrating loss to South Point, the one highlight for the Lady Falcons was their offense. The girls’ batting was stronger than it has ever been,
and they pulled together for a strong rally. Freshmen Emily Parker, Alysia Carreon, and Colline Gallagher each had a great day at the plate, with Emily and
Alysia scoring twice, and Colline crossing the plate three times.

Game 7 at Scottsdale Christian
The Lady Falcons put up their first victory of the season against Scottsdale Christian in a 29 – 14 game. On defense, Katrina McGinnis pitched a good game
with 6 strikeouts, and Torri Nannis made a great catch deep in the outfield. The girls did an awesome job on offense with some great singles by many of the
girls, including Amber Baggiore, Katrina McGinnis, Ali Piersol, and Colline Gallagher, and an over-the-fence homerun by Deana Baum.

Game 8 at Northwest Christian
Although they lost 9–3, the Lady Falcons played very well against Northwest Christian. Strong defensive play by the Falcons, especially Araya Davis, Colline
Gallagher, and Emily Parker, kept the game close until the 5th inning. Emily Parker and Colline Gallagher also had another good game on offense, with
multiple base hits, and Deana Baum showed impressive strength with a ground-rule double that bounced over the centerfield fence in the 6th inning.

Game 9 vs Sedona at Rose Mofford
The Lady Falcons were no match for the very strong Sedona Scorpions as they lost 0 – 23. The girls played hard, but base hits by Colline Gallagher and
Deana Baum were the only bright moments against a really good Sedona pitcher. On defense, Brittini Jajdelski went to the pitching circle for the first time this
season in relief of starter Katrina McGinnis and helped to finish the game. She did a good job and helped to keep the scoring in the last 3 innings very low.

Game 10 vs Westwind at Rose Mofford
The Lady Falcons were victorious against Westwind winning 13-3. Amber Baggiore pitched a great game, with one walk, and five strikeouts.  The
team stepped up making few errors and executing a great defense. Big hitters for the night were Alysia Carreon with a triple, Emily Parker with a double and
Brittany Jajdelski with a super line drive down themiddle for 2 RBI's.

Game 11 at Horizon Honors
The Lady Falcons fell to Horizon Honors, losing 27 - 10.  The ladies put up a great fight the first five innings.  Amber Baggiore pitched another great game for
the Falcons; however, in the 6th inning the ladies made a few errors that allowed Horizon Honors to take the lead. Overall the ladies put forth a great effort.

Game 12 at Tonopah
The Lady Falcons had another tough game against Tonopah, losing 3–19. The infield had a difficult time, missing Deana Baum at third base, and a
combination of well-placed hits and errors got North Pointe behind early. On offense, Amber Baggiore led the team with an impressive three base hits, Emily
Parker got two base hits, Tori Nannis had a great hit to center field, and Colline Gallagher, Araya Davis each got one base hit.

Game 13 vs Valley Christian at Chandler Gilbert Community College
The North Pointe Falcons did not beat Valley Christian (they lost 4 -14) but they played well against them.  The infielders, Nichole Mcginnis (Catcher), Emily
Parker (1st Base), Araya Davis (2nd Base), Colline Gallagher (Short Stop) and Brittini Jajdelski (3rd Base) all had excellent plays, while Amber Baggiore
pitched a good game, and she and Alysia Carreon both went two for two with a double and a single. Tori Nannis and Emily Parker also had one base hit a
piece.

Game 14 vs Tempe Prep at Rose Mofford
Although the Falcons lost to Tempe Prep 17-4 thanks to strong hitting and solid defense from the opponent, the girls played pretty well overall. Alysia
Carreon and Brittini Jajdelski both got huge hits for doubles, while Colline Gallagher, Nichole McGinnis, and Estephanie Torres each got singles.

Games 15 and 16 at Phoenix Country Day
The North Pointe Lady Falcon softball team ended their season with a double-header at Phoenix Country Day. Though the games did not go in favor of the
Falcons (they lost 10-3 and 16-5), the ladies put up a good fight and had a lot of fun. Seniors Deana Baum and Nichole McGinnis were solid at 3rd Base and
Catcher respectively and at bat in their final games at North Pointe, and their leadership and talent will definitely be missed.
