Prep receives official's Sportsmanship Award
The Az Football Official's Association awarded their prestigious 2009 Sportsmanship Award to North
Pointe during Thursday's morning show broadcast. Varsity Football Coach Leon Thomas and Athletic
Director Erin Idczak received the award. Each year, the officials pick one team whose coaches, players,
band, cheerleaders and fans display the most integrity and sportsmanship.
"It the school, it's Football Friday Night and I think it's the baseline foundation of what this school is all
about," said Coach Thomas. 'I'm very honored and very proud of the guys."
"At the end of the season all of the officials get together and we select the school that has demonstrated
exemplary sportsmanship and the highest level of integrity," said Larry Kindred, Sportsmanship Award
Chairman for the Az Football Official's Association. "This year North Pointe Prep was the clear winner."
