Over 70 students performed at the Guitar and Piano
Recital during the Prep's Winter Arts Festival. "We had
beginners to those that have been playing for several
years," said the Prep's Piano Lab instructor Debbie
Hutson. "I was very proud of each one of them." The
highlight of the night was all 40 guitar students playing
Carol of the Bells."
Piano students chose their own music and the result
was a very entertaining program. There were the
traditional selections that included “Jingle Bell Rock”
(Brooke Adamo/Dahlia Molina), “Silver Bells” (Ashleigh
Chavez) and “Joy to the World” (Dustin Frank) as well
as some contemporary selections, “River Flows to
You” from Twilight (Kaitlin Ulman), “Memory of
Lightwaves” from Final Fantasy (Vince Ciulla), Song
from Final Fantasy (George Martin) and “Out of My
League”(Austin Mosher).
After a brief intermission that included free hot
chocolate, the guitar ensembles picked up where the
pianos left off. Third period came through with solid
performances of “Go Tell it On the Mountain” and
“Keppel’s Delight”and Seventh Period got everyone’s
feet tapping with “Calypso”. The guitars finished off
with all 40 students on stage together playing “Carol of
the Bells”.
