North Pointe's Veterans Float takes First Place
The Prep's float entry into America's fifth largest Veterans Day Parade was awarded first
place for the Veterans Service Organization category. The semi driven float and its
entourage spanned over 200 feet and was viewed by a crowd of over 225,000 and
hundreds of thousands more on TV.

The float highlighted the work of US Vets - an organization dedicated to helping homeless
Veterans transition back into the community. It featured three scenes. The first was a
soldier (Prep Senior Jesse Deng) waving an American Flag representing all of those who
serve. The second scene featured trash cans, beat up shopping carts and homeless
veterans trying to stay warm around a trash barrel fire. The final scene highlighted the
role of US Vets and featured homeless Veterans moving from scene two up stairs to be
welcomed to the business world and returning to the community.

North Pointe's Marching Band led the entourage playing a medley of patriotic songs. They
were followed by the float which was escorted by the Prep's STUGO members waving
American Flags. Bringing up the rear was the Varsity Cheer Team sporting clothing
representing each branch of America's Armed Forces and performing cheers honoring
America's heroes.
