North Pointe Remembers at Memorial Service
In a very moving ceremony, North Pointe students and faculty
paused for a moment of silence at 8:46 am to remember
those that lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy of 2001.
"A lot of people forget about it and it's really sad that they do
because it was so life changing," said Sophomore Kim See.
"It was so shocking that somebody would do something to us.
You felt so secure and then all of the sudden bam and we're
not anymore."
The memorial service was sponsored by the Prep's National
Honor Society and featured performances by North Pointe's
Prep Band, High School Choir and the reading of poems by
NHS members Allsion Risser and Stephen Hutson. The most

solemn part of the ceremony was the raising of the flag to full-staff by
Honor Guard members from Luke Air Force Base which was followed by
the playing of the National Anthem. The flag was then lowered and
positioned to half-staff in honor of those who lost their lives that tragic day.
"I was on my way to school in a friends car," remembered Senior Alec
Lomas. "It's a lot bigger than I thought it was back then. I just thought it
was a fire down the street but now I realize how huge that attack was."
"I'm grateful for our students and their leadership in desiring to recognize
and remember the victims and their families," said the Prep's Director of
Student Development. "I was especially proud to see our students
personally thank the honor guard."
