Several weeks ago the Prep's Varsity Cheer Coaching Staff decided to compete in the Cactus Cup
against very tough competition instead of competing a week earlier against a field that almost
guaranteed a win.
"18 of our 23 cheerleaders made the Principal's List and Honor Roll so competing in the Cactus
Cup was a tough decision because it conflicted with the Academic Snow Day," said Erin Norman,
the Prep's Varsity Cheer Coach. "We really didn't expect to win this championship and entered it
thinking the tougher competition would better prepare us for State next weekend."
"I think this win will help our younger athletes with their confidence," said the Prep's Competition
Coach Josh Delgado. "Now they know we can go up against larger schools and win. We just have
to stay focused and work hard over the next seven days."
