The Falcon's Junior Michael Denham and Freshmen Mallory Johnson reached the Semi-Final round at the Mesa
Carry-On Classis Speech Tournament with a Duo-Intrepretation category preformance that brought the house down
and with the audience laughing and cheering at their presentation of "The Zombie Survival Guide."  The pari ended
up placing 7th out of 50 entrants missing the final round by one point.

The Prep's Speech Team finished an impressive 12th out of the 35 schools which included teams from small 1A
schools all the way to teams from huge 5A schools.  It was the largest Speech Tournament of the year. North Pointe
team had 12 entries in the categories of Duo-Interpretation, Expository Speaking, Original Oratory, and Serious
Prose.

Melody Chrispen and Rochelle Otto also had strong showings.  Chrispen placed 13th out of 45 people in the Serious
Prose category and missed the Semi-Final round by a single point.  Otto placed 13th our of 41 participants in her
category of Original Oratory and missed breaking into Semi-Finals also by one single point.  The very consistent
partnership of Frankie Marchi and Chris Dalpe placed 13th our of 50 people competing in Duo-Interpretation, also
missing the Semi-Finals by a single point.

A beaming Coach Troy Ward said at the end of the tournament, "OK, OK... so we seem to be that team who isn't just
close to success, we are literally knocking on the door and threatening to take over at these tournaments.  To think
that we are a 2A team in our first real competitive year competing against these power house teams like Brophy Prep
and Dobson High, it's something to inspire everyone.  Very soon there will be no stopping us and those big schools
who have been doing this for 20 years or more will be trying to knock us down."
